Synthstrument — Privacy Policy
Synthstrument is a musical instrument app. It is built so that nothing you do in it leaves your device.
What we collect
Nothing. Synthstrument has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no crash reporting, and no tracking of any kind. We do not collect, store, transmit, or sell any personal data.
Network access
None. The app itself does not connect to the internet: every instrument sound, every visualization and every song ships inside the app itself. On Android the app does not even request the internet permission, so the operating system enforces this. Purchases are handled by the store app on your phone (see Purchases below), not by Synthstrument. The only time the app sends you anywhere else is when you tap a link to this policy, which opens in your device's browser.
What stays on your device
Everything the app creates or remembers is stored locally on your device only:
- your settings, saved sounds and presets,
- loops you record and save,
- your play-along best scores and tutorial progress,
- a record of which add-ons you have unlocked.
Deleting the app deletes all of it. If your phone's own backup is turned on (Google backup on Android, iCloud backup on iPhone), this data is included in it under your own account, so it comes back on a new phone or after a reinstall. We have no access to that backup. Recorded videos live in your gallery and follow your gallery's own backup settings.
Recordings and videos
Audio loops and performance videos are created only when you press the record buttons, are saved only on your device, and are shared only when you explicitly use the share or save actions, which hand the file to your operating system's standard share sheet or gallery. We never see them.
Purchases
Optional add-on instruments and visualizations are sold as one-time purchases through the app store you installed Synthstrument from (Google Play or the Apple App Store). The store handles the payment and keeps the purchase record under its own privacy policy; we receive no name, address, or payment details. The app asks the store which add-ons your store account owns, so that “Restore purchases” can unlock them again on a reinstall or a new device. No purchase information is sent to us or to anyone other than the store.
Device sensors and permissions
- Motion (tilt): device orientation is read live to control pitch. It is used in the moment and never recorded or transmitted.
- Vibration: short confirmation buzzes, for example when you clear your loops.
- Saving videos to your gallery: available on every version. On Android 9 and older this needs the storage permission; newer versions need none. Used solely when you choose Save on a recording.
The app requests no other permissions. It does not use the microphone or the camera.
Children
Synthstrument collects no data from anyone, including children. It is not directed at children under 13.
Changes
If this policy ever changes (for example, if optional online features are added), the updated policy will be posted at this address before the change takes effect.
